Ten months after his unlawful detention, the family of paramedic Hamdan Hassan Ennaba was informed today that Israeli Occupation Forces killed their son in an Israeli detention and torture facility. The circumstances of his killing are unknown yet.
Hamdan a senior paramedic at Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis City, was detained by IOF on 2nd December 2023 along with 4 other paramedics while transferring patients in a previously organised convoy from Al-Shifa Hospital to the Southern hospitals through the so-called “Israeli-designated safe route”.
Hamdan marks the third yet known healthcare worker killed by Israeli Occupation Forces in their torture facilities and also marks the 58th paramedic killed by Israeli Occupation Forces in Palestine since October 7th, 2023.
We at Healthcare Workers Watch send our condolences to Hamdan’s family and call for an independent investigation into the killing of paramedic Hamdan and before him Dr Iyad AlRantisi and Dr Adnan AlBursh. We call on all the concerned organisations to take responsibility for providing protection and support to healthcare workers in areas of conflict and to unite the efforts to document all the attacks committed against healthcare workers and take legal action accordingly.
