After 182 days of his unlawful detention, the family of chief nurse Dr Ziad Mohammed Saleh Al-Dalou, PhD was informed today that Israeli Occupation Forces killed him in an Israeli detention and torture facility just 3 days after his detention. The circumstances of his killing are unknown yet.

Dr Ziad a chief nurse at the Internal Medicine Department of Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, was unlawfully detained by Israeli Occupation Forces on 19th March 2024 along with at least 55 healthcare workers and tens of patients and displaced civilians following the barbaric invasion of the hospital that ended by the mass destruction of the hospital and its surroundings.

Dr Ziad marks the fourth yet known healthcare worker killed by Israeli Occupation Forces in their torture facilities since 7th October 2023.

We at Healthcare Workers Watch send our sincere condolences to Dr Ziad’s family at such a tough time. We hold the Israeli Occupation Forces accountable for the brutal killing of Dr Ziad and before him Dr Iyad AlRantisi, Dr Adnan AlBursh, and paramedic Hamdan Annaba, and we hold the Israeli Occupation Forces accountable for the sacred lives of over 180 healthcare workers that they unlawfully detained.

We renew our call to all the concerned organisations to take responsibility for providing protection and support to healthcare workers in areas of conflict and to unite the efforts to document all the attacks committed against healthcare workers and take legal actions accordingly to stop this medical genocide.
