As of May 4, 2024, we have documented 242 cases of unlawful detention of healthcare workers in Palestine by Israeli Occupation Forces since October 7, 2023. The detained include 73 physicians, 2 dentists, 61 nurses, 42 paramedics, 5 pharmacists, 1 optometrist, 17 technicians, 20 healthcare administrative staff, 20 healthcare students, 3 volunteers, and 14 others.

Of those detained:

• 1 was killed while in detention
• 120 are currently in detention
• 43 are missing
• 2 were detained twice and then released
• 76 have been released

A total of 227 healthcare workers were unlawfully detained from the Gaza Strip, and 15 from the West Bank. We have collected 23 video, voice, or written testimonies detailing torture experienced by some of the released individuals. HWW continues to document these violations and calls for immediate action to ensure the safety and rights of detained healthcare workers.
